ELKRIDGE, Md. — Six people were injured when a Howard County ambulance collided with a car and a tractor-trailer that had been involved in another crash Monday night in Elkridge, officials said.

The crash happened around 7 p.m. as the ambulance was driving north on Washington Boulevard near Kit Kat Road. Howard County police said the ambulance was responding to an emergency call for extra help in Baltimore County and that it had its emergency equipment activated at the time.

Investigators said the tractor-trailer was stopped across three lanes of Washington Boulevard because it had crashed into a car that had tried to turn left from Kit Kat Road. Officials said two other cars were stopped in the northbound side of the road because of it.
