LAFAYETTE, La. — Two Acadian Ambulance paramedics are being hailed as heroes for saving a patient who was trapped in quicksand-like mud and rising waters for more than four hours.
Paramedics Andrew King and Kaleb Harrington responded to a flood ditch where a car had rolled over. Because the patient’s head was in a dangerous position, a tow truck was called to help with the extricatation. Paramedic King comforted and kept the patient calm until the tow truck was able to make it to the scene, Acadian Ambulance wrote on their Facebook page.
“Andrew didn’t hesitate to go above and beyond the call of duty to get into harm’s way to provide care to the patient,” State Trooper Derrick Parish said. “On behalf of the entire Louisiana State Police, we cannot thank him and the collective efforts of local first responders for their service.”
