CLEVELAND — Body cam footage highlights the reason an EMS union is demanding action for more safety on dangerous calls.

Police body cam footage obtained by FOX8 shows a naked man disrupting traffic and refusing commands from police, and an EMS crew can be heard telling an officer that the same man assaulted a paramedic.

“He … grabbed my partner. Yeah, he (messed) his eye all up,” the EMS provider can be heard saying.

The incident prompted the EMS union to send a letter to city officials demanding action be taken to make scenes safer for EMS crews. The union added that the incident was the third time in recent weeks they have tried to discuss the matter with officials.

The letter recounts “…members going on calls where weapons were pulled on them, as well as them being unnecessarily put into dangerous situations without police on scene first.”

The union said it has heard nothing from city officials and no policies have been put in place.
