Charges dropped against EMT accused of stealing pills

Officials determined there was not enough evidence to convict EMT Kathleen Knecht in connection with the theft of drugs from an ambulance

HONESDALE, Pa. — Charges have been dropped against an EMT who was accused of being connected to the theft of pills from an ambulance.

WNEP reported that Wayne County EMT Kathleen Knecht was charged in November, along with Heather Widzbell and Jason Mizwinski, after pills were stolen from her ambulance.

Investigators originally said Knecht would tell Widzbell and Mizwinski where her assigned ambulance would be and when to take the drugs.

The charges against Knecht were dropped after the district attorney’s office determined there was not enough evidence to convict her.

Widzbell and Mizwinski still face charges of theft and reckless endangerment of another person.
