Off-duty NY paramedic saves unconscious man on highway

The medic performed CPR and applied a defibrillator to restore the man’s pulse

ALBANY, N.Y. — An off-duty paramedic saved the life of an unconscious man when she performed CPR Wednesday.

Chelsea Noe was driving to an appointment when she saw what appeared to be a lifeless man pulled from his car on the side of the road, reported NEWS10.

Noe pulled over and began to administer CPR to Robert Guynup, 70.

State Trooper Ian Henry arrived on scene and worked with Noe to revive Guynup, performing CPR and using a defibrillator.

“It should make every single one of us a little bit more comfortable in knowing that there are people who are willing to stop and render help in situations like this,” Albany Fire Battalion Chief William Moore said.

“It’s an honor to come back into the city today and be able to see that the community still exists, and that we were able to help out an individual that needed our help who was lifeless,” Noe said. “He may now possibly have a chance at life, and family members may be able to share more memories with him.”

The city’s fire department and ambulance service arrived on scene shortly after, where the man was transported to a hospital.
