LOS ANGELES — An MLB team hosted over 350 first responders at an event at their stadium as a way to honor them for their service.

NBC Los Angeles reported that the Los Angeles Dodgers teamed up with Bank of America and kicked off their annual “Dodgers Love L.A.” community tour by mingling with the first responders as they participated in batting practice and hung out on the field at Dodger Stadium.

Pitchers Alex Wood, Kenley Jansen and Ross Stripling were among the players in attendance.

“I know it’s been a crazy last couple months for a lot of these guys,” Wood said. “It’s cool to have a whole day out here at Dodger Stadium and be a part of it.”

“I’ve dreamt about being on this field since I was kid,” Captain Chip Cervantes said. “We try to put others first, but it takes a toll on the family. Just being out there, on this field, is awesome.”

A moment of silence was also held for fallen firefighter Cory Iverson, the Cal Fire firefighter who died while battling the Thomas Fire.

“It’s just a small way for us to thank you,” Bank of America senior vice president Garret Gin said. “All of your work has been in the news recently. But more importantly, it’s what you do every day that don’t make the headlines that makes it possible for all of us to enjoy this life in Southern California.”
