PITTSBURGH — Four people remain hospitalized after being involved in a three-vehicle collision Tuesday.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that Brandon Ciampaglia, who works as a communication coordinator for the National Association of EMS Educators, his wife, Maureen, and their 4-day-old infant, Liam, were among the people injured in the collision. They were transported to the hospital; the couple was driving home from the hospital for their first day as a family.
“While recovery will be long, please consider donating to help ease this small, new family’s burden as they try to recover and build,” wrote Jennifer Freel, who created a GoFundMe page.
According to police, a wrong-way driver was in a lane near the end of the bridge where the crash occurred.
“They were so happy and excited to start their life together at home as first time parents,” Joann Freel, executive director at NAEMSE, said. “They are all hospitalized in the ICU and they need our prayers.”
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
