Video supports medic battling breast cancer

Florida firefighter/paramedics use dancing, signs to encourage and inspire a department veteran

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — Firefighter/paramedics created the dance video, “Operation Make Kathy Smile,” to inspire and thank one of their own, Kathy Babcock, as she undergoes chemotherapy to treat breast cancer.

The video features every Pasco County Fire station and is an outpouring of love and support for Babcock, reported FOX 13.

Babcock was diagnosed earlier this year and chemotherapy is just the beginning of her treatment.

“Next will be hormonal reduction injections and then a bilateral mastectomy in January, followed by radiation,” explained James Lavine, a fellow Pasco County firefighter, in an email to FOX 13.

The video is a mix of humor, dancing, and Babcok’s colleagues making signs of encouragement.

Lavine said they met their goal and made Babcock smile when they surprised her with the video and a room full of flowers, balloons and the heartfelt messages.
