FORT PAYNE, Ala. — An ambulance company is selling T-shirts to raise awareness about domestic violence and remember an EMT that was murdered by her husband.

DeKalb Ambulance Service EMT Ashley Scott, 25, was killed earlier this year by her husband, Gregory Scott, just days after filing a domestic violence report, reported WHNT19.

Scott’s death was a blow to her colleagues, who were concerned for her safety leading up to her death. Scott’s husband, also an EMT, was arrested and charged with murder.

Although the agency normally sells shirts for breast cancer awareness in October, employees chose to raise awareness for domestic violence in memorial of Scott.

“Our goal is just to bring awareness to the death and the injuries that can occur from domestic violence,” Mark Ford, the company’s director, said. “The shirts sell for $12 each. Anything above and beyond the cost of the shirts we are donating to Kelley’s Rainbow in Albertville. They are the domestic service that provides services here in DeKalb County.”

Scott’s two children are currently being looked after by family members.
