The Vallejo Fire Department is searching for an unidentified Good Samaritan who helped an injured motorcyclist and may have been exposed to a “medical issue,” an official said Friday.
“We would like to speak to him in reference to some medical issues that have arisen since the time of the accident,” said department spokesman Bill Tweedy.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of Dec. 28 after a 51-year-old Vallejo man lost control of his motorcycle on the westbound Carquinez Bridge span and struck several immovable objects, including the concrete center wall. The victim slid along the roadway about 100 feet or so, before striking a steel pole, CHP Sgt. Wayne Ziese said at the time.
The victim was taken to Sutter Solano Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Ziese said the motorcyclist suffered fatal head or neck injuries.
Upon arriving on the crash scene that afternoon, Vallejo firefighters saw an unidentified male Good Samaritan performing first aid and CPR on the motorcycle victim.
“I think he’s a very caring and thoughtful person to stop and help another person in the time of an emergency,” Tweedy said.
Tweedy declined to comment on the specific medical issue, citing confidentiality laws.
The Good Samaritan is asked to call the Vallejo Fire Department’s EMS Coordinator Danny Richards at 333-6037.
