Man charged with attacking paramedic in Chicago

(STNG) CHICAGO — A 45-year-old man who attacked a paramedic while being treated for a drug overdose was charged with a felony Saturday.

Joseph Delrio, of the 2300 block of South Trumbull Avenue, was charged with felony aggravated battery after allegedly attacking a paramedic who tried to help him on Friday, according to police News Affairs Officer Marcel Bright.

According to police reports, Delrio was in an ambulance at around 4:49 p.m. Friday in the 3200 block of West 23rd Street when he “went berserk” after receiving being injected with anti-overdose medication, Bright said.
