Slowly but surely, the Tracy Fire Department is turning its firefighters into paramedics.
The idea started in 2004 with Station 93, outside Tracy on Durham Ferry Road, which trained some of its firefighters to provide advanced medical care on certain emergency calls.
Earlier this month, the first engine company within city limits, Station 97, began sending out firefighters who had also been trained as paramedics.
