Off-duty firefighter, EMT revive cat pulled from blaze

Another cat and a turtle were also saved; no one else was injured

FITCHBURG, Mass. — An off-duty firefighter and an EMT helped revive a cat after a fire broke out Monday.

WCVB reported that Fitchburg Fire crews put out the fire within 10 minutes in the second floor apartment. Firefighter Ryan Young, who was off duty at the time, heard the call and rushed to the scene. EMT Scott Coates worked with Young to revive a cat that had been rescued from the blaze.

Another cat and a turtle were also saved. No one else was injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
