ALBANY COUNTY, N.Y. — The Delmar-Bethlehem EMS agency is adding a mini-ambulance to their fleet to respond to emergencies along a nine-mile trail at Albany County Helderberg-Hudson Rail Trail.
County officials approved a budget amendment for $77,754 to purchase an ATV-like type of vehicle to service any emergencies along the trail, News Channel 13 reported.
Bicyclists, walkers and joggers alike use the trail daily. Officials said it would be faster to respond with a mobile unit like the mini ambulance as opposed to dropping off EMTs at the crossroad.
The mini ambulance will be housed at the Delmar-Bethlehem EMS building and is expected to respond to emergencies starting in December.
