WELLFLEET, Mass. — Two EMS personnel are recovering after a two-vehicle crash caused an ambulance to roll onto its side.
Cape Cod Times reported that the Wellfleet EMS personnel were bumped and bruised, but had no other injuries. They are expected to be out of work for a few days.
The ambulance was taking a patient to Cape Cod Hospital. The patient had no further injuries due to the crash.
The crash occurred at an intersection. The ambulance had its lights and sirens on and other vehicles in the intersection were stopped. A pickup truck drove through the intersection and hit the side of the ambulance, briefly tipping it onto two wheels.
The ambulance is heavily damaged and out of service, according to the report.
The driver of the pickup was not injured and was cited for failure to slow at an intersection, failure to yield for an emergency vehicle, unsafe lane change and speeding.
