HOLLAND, Mich. — Four people in an ambulance were hospitalized after the emergency vehicle rolled over following a collision with a truck.

Paramedic Tammy Scholten and Zeeland Township firefighters David Walcott and Terry Boerman suffered non-life-threatening injuries, WOODTV.com reports.

The patient was hospitalized for the original medical emergency, and it’s unclear whether he sustained further injuries in the crash.

FOX17 reports that family on the scene identified the patient as Larry Dsarmo, 62. A family friend said the patient was in cardiac arrest and was being transported to a hospital.

The crash occurred around 6:10 p.m. when an AMR ambulance had lights and sirens activated. It stopped briefly at an intersection, proceeded as traffic was stopped, and was hit by a pickup truck, causing the ambulance to overturn.

The driver of the pickup truck said he didn’t see or hear the ambulance. He was not injured.

Neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash, police said.
