Patient killed, nurse injured in Ohio ambulance crash

The ambulance, which drove off the side of the road and into a ravine, was driving erratically for a few miles

VERMILION, Ohio — A patient was killed in a crash involving an ambulance Thursday afternoon.

FOX8 reported that the ambulance was driving erratically for a few miles; the driver apparently suffered a medical emergency. He lost control, drove off the side of the road, into a ravine and flipped over.

The patient, 76-year-old David McNeil, was killed and a nurse was airlifted to a hospital. The driver was also injured and taken to a hospital.

A spokeswoman for North Central EMS said they will have a news conference to discuss further details surrounding the crash.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
