DALLAS, N.C. — Two Dallas Rescue Squad personnel were uninjured after a collision with a truck toppled an agency ambulance Monday night in Bessemer City.

The crash occurred near the intersection of East Alabama Avenue, and South 11th Street just east of the Bessemer City post office around 5:30 p.m., according to Dallas Rescue Squad Assistant Chief Earl Withers.

Wither said two Rescue Squad personnel had just dropped a patient off at home prior to the collision, though neither were injured when the ambulance overturned.

Both roads were closed for more than an hour Monday as a wrecker was called to right the toppled ambulance. Withers said the ambulance was towed and is being evaluated for repair but said it’s likely the vehicle will be a total loss.

He deferred additional questions to the Bessemer City Police Department, which has not responded to multiple attempts seeking information.
