JUPITER, Fla. — A permanent memorial was put together to honor two paramedics killed in an ambulance crash by an accused drunk driver.
Jupiter Medical Center dedicated a plaque in memory of Paul Besaw and Lahiri Garcia. WPTV reported that friends and family were invited to the ceremony.
"I love you, brothers ... I'm always here for you," AMR co-worker Joe Robertson said. "When you think of Paul and Lahiri you don't think of co-workers, you don't think of friends, you think of family."
The plaque is now hanging in the EMS lounge at the medical center.
"I've been with AMR 28 years and I think the last two weeks with the company have been the most difficult. Dealing with the loss of two of our family members is about the hardest thing we've had to do," AMR supervisor Kevin Meehan said.
