MANHATTAN, Kan. — An ambulance responding to a vehicle crash rolled over due to icy conditions on the road.

A Kansas Highway Patrol report said the ambulance was rushing to a crash scene when the EMS provider driving the rig lost control on the icy roadway, causing the ambulance to spin 180 degrees into the median, The Wichita Eagle reported.

The ambulance then rolled over onto its passenger side, according to police.

The EMS provider driving the ambulance was not harmed. His partner suffered a suspected minor injury and was transported to the hospital.

Less than an hour after the crash, the Riley County Police Department said on Facebook that the road was shut down due to several accidents, and warned the public to “not drive if not absolutely necessary” due to several highways being “completely covered” by ice or snow, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.
