MINNEAPOLIS —A three-year-old who was injured in an ambulance crash Monday is fighting for his life at the hospital, according to his mother.
FOX9 reported that Kayden Kjornes was being transported in an ambulance due to problems with a pre-existing condition when a teen driver ran a red light and crashed into the ambulance, causing it to roll over.
“All I said out loud right before it happened is ‘I’m going to die because I was hanging upside down,’” said Kayden’s mother Alexis, who was riding in the back of the ambulance with him, and hanging from the ceiling when it stopped rolling.
Alexis said the crash made Kayden’s condition worse.
“He already had bleeding issues and hematology issues, so I’m just worried at this point if he’s going to make it,” she said.
Alexis hopes the incident will remind other drivers to pay attention on the road.
“They don’t think in five seconds you could just kill somebody.”
A GoFundMe was set up to help pay for Kayden’s medical bills. To donate, click here.
