Ambulance collision injures medics, patient and civilians

Paramedics involved in the Illinois crash continued treating the patient they were transporting before more responders arrived on scene

STREAMWOOD, Ill — Five people were injured when an ambulance transporting a patient collided with a car Sunday.

All five people involved in the accident were transported to the hospital but those inside the ambulance were not seriously hurt, ABC7 reported.

When emergency responders arrived on scene, the paramedics from the ambulance involved in the crash were continuing treatment of the female patient they were transporting.

The car was badly damaged on both sides and responders from Streamwood Fire Department had to remove the car’s roof and post to extricate the driver and passenger.

The incident is under investigation but ABC7 presumed the ambulance was traveling with lights and sirens activated.
