HOUSTON — An SUV driving the wrong direction on Westpark Tollway crashed into a private ambulance, killing two people and injuring two others at about 4:45 a.m. Saturday, Click2Houston reported.

EMS providers pronounced two people dead at the scene. It was unclear which vehicle or vehicles the deceased had been in. The names of the deceased and the injured have not been released.

Deputies with the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s office said the driver of a black Chevrolet Equinox probably was speeding and did not notice multiple illuminated “wrong way” signs.

The officers said the ambulance crew was not transporting a patient at the time of the incident.
