BYRAM, Miss. — A boy took matters into his own hands to prevent the Grinch from stealing Christmas by calling 911 to report him.
Clarion Ledger reported that TyLon Pittman, 5, was assured his presents were safe by a dispatcher when he called 911 in fear of the Grinch, and a police officer decided to pay him a visit to let him know he was safe.
“Our dispatcher posted a status on Facebook that she had received a call from a little boy ... and he told her he thought the Grinch was going to be coming to steal his Christmas,” Officer Lauren Develle said. “I asked her to send me his address.”
Develle, who said she is constantly compared to the Grinch character Cindy Lou Who, said she could relate to TyLon because she grew up watching the movie.
“I kind of find it really funny ... Every Christmas morning, my dad wears these Grinch pants,” she said. “It’s his favorite movie. Growing up seeing the Grinch every Christmas was my favorite thing.”
TyLon said he grew worried after watching videos about the Grinch online.
“You thought the Grinch was going to steal your Christmas, for real?” TyLon’s mother asked.
“He steals everybody’s Christmas,” TyLon solemnly replied.
