DALLAS — Several Texas paramedics and EMTs suffered significant home and property loses in the tornadoes that swept through the Dallas-Fort Worth area on Saturday.

The Association of Texas EMS Professionals is raising money and supplies for the first responders personally affected by the deadly storms.

Acadian Ambulance Paramedic Gary Nahmias lost his home and most of his belongings. He was home with his wife, children and grandchildren at the time of the storm. Nahmias was injured in the storm that leveled his home. His wife, children and grandchildren had minor injuries.

Two Rockwall County EMTs are also reported to have lost their homes during the tornadoes.

For the responders who lost their homes the Association of Texas EMS Professionals is raising cash through a GoFundMe fundraiser.

“The Association of Texas EMS Professionals is raising money to deliver to those responders in need during this tragedy.” Matthew Whitt, board president, said in the appeal for donations. “Even though we take care of everyone else with a sense of pride and duty we need to remember our own.”

Other first responders affected by the storm should contact matthew.whitt@atemsp.org.

Supplies and cash donations to first responders can also be made at several locations in San Antonio and Houston. The Association of Texas EMS Professionals is seeking flashlights, work gloves, personal care items, snacks, energy drinks and over-the-counter pain relievers.
