TABOR CITY, N.C. — Members of an ambulance crew responding to a call Wednesday were injured when they were assaulted by a man inside their ambulance, law enforcement and department officials said.
Randolph Marcus Smith, 33, of Autumn Chase Lane, was charged with two counts of assault on emergency workers and assault on a female in an attack on his girlfriend, said Sgt. Timothy Inman of the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.
Smith is accused of attacking Sheila Denise Roberts, 46, and Linda Gail Russ, 38, as they placed Smith’s girlfriend in the back of their ambulance about 4p.m., Inman said.
