SHOREHAM-BY-SEA, England — When a Hawker Hunter jet plummeted onto a highway in southeastern England on Saturday, killing 11 people, dozens of emergency responders extricated and treated patients.
The military jet was taking part in the Shoreham Airshow at the time of the crash. Witnesses said the jet appeared to have failed to pull out of a loop maneuver.
In an interview with the BBC, paramedic Steve Andrews, South East Coast Ambulance Service, described the incident.
“It was utter devastation. There were cars on fire, debris all across the road,” Andrews said.
