WEST PARK, Fla. — A 10-year old West Park, Fla., boy is recovering after paramedics say he fell reaching for a mango in a tree and landed on spikes atop a fence.
The Broward County Sheriff’s Office said he fell 18 feet and landed on a fence with spikes several inches long Monday, receiving puncture wounds on his torso and a cut near his eye.
A neighbor, Prince Moore, saved his life by calling 911 and wrapping a T-shirt around the boy’s chest, paramedics said.
“Those moments he (Moore) took to stop and address those injuries were absolutely paramount,” said Lt. Scott Pollard of the Sheriff’s Fire Rescue department.
Moore identified the victim as Angel Dotel. The boy was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Fla., WFOR-TV, Miami, reported.
