MT. LEBANON, Pa. — Mt. Lebanon and the Medical Rescue Team South Authority paid $70,000 to settle a federal lawsuit by a Western Pennsylvania woman who claimed a police officer and paramedics used unnecessary force and filed false charges against her when they responded to a 911 call.
The municipality released the settlement agreement in response to a Tribune-Review Right to Know request.
Jessica Yochum, address unavailable, was 23 when she filed the suit claiming a police officer and two emergency responders violated her civil rights when they forcibly restrained her while she was suffering a grand mal seizure in a Mt. Lebanon restaurant, and then the officer charged her with aggravated assault and drug possession.
An Allegheny County district judge dismissed the charges, the lawsuit says. Attorneys for both sides filed a motion asking a judge to dismiss the lawsuit.
