CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. — A Pennsylvania paramedic died suddenly on February 1 after becoming ill during his shift.
Veterans Memorial Ambulance Service Paramedic Theodore “Ted” Dybus, 45, was honored by first responders at the several agencies he worked for at a memorial service on Wednesday, WJAC reported.
“He became ill last week while he was working a shift and subsequently collapsed and could not be resuscitated,” Southern Alleghenies EMS Council Director Carl Moen told WJAC. “So, we are here to honor his memory and to support his family.”

Dybus also worked as a paramedic with John Carroll EMS and Med-Van Transport, and was an officer with the Vintondale Borough Police Department, according to Veterans Memorial.
“He was not with the department long but his drive and love of helping people showed in everything he did,” a police department Facebook post said.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Dybus’ family to cover funeral costs and other expenses.
