Woman dives into river to save blind dog, both rescued

Woman was unable to keep both herself and the dog afloat, and rescue crews saved them both

PORT HURON, Mich. - Rescue crews helped pull a woman from the Black River Tuesday evening.

Port Huron Police Officer Chris Smith said a 63-year-old St. Clair Township woman went into the Black River near the Zebra Bar, but was unable to pull herself out.

The woman jumped in after a blind dog named Daisy that had fallen into the water.

When the woman was unable to keep both herself and the dog afloat, she let go of the dog, but was unable to pull herself up, Smith said.
