LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A firefighter-paramedic sustained serious injuries when his car veered off a highway Tuesday morning.
Adam Gillie’s truck struck a parked tractor-trailer and overturned, reported FOX19.
Officials said Gillie, 32, was stuck inside his truck and partially ejected; he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Fire crews responded to the scene and extricated Gillie.
The Madison Township firefighter-paramedic was airlifted to a medical center. Members of his department wrote on Facebook that Gillie is improving.
“Thank you for all the prayers, he is awake and in somewhat good spirits,” wrote the Madison Fire Department on Facebook. “While he did sustain serious injuries, none of his injuries are life-threatening … Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers for a quick and speedy recovery.”
Officials said fatigue may have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
