NEWTOWN, Conn. — Firefighters lined the streets of one of the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting’s funeral procession in honor of the child’s wish to be a firefighter himself.
Daniel Barden, 7, was killed in the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary and dreamed of being a firefighter like his father’s cousins in NYC, according to the LA Times.
FDNY firefighters joined mourners, dressed in dress Class A uniforms, standing silently outside the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Newtown Wednesday.
“After 9/11 the whole country extended its sympathy to New York so we’re here to show our support for this community,” Lt. Eddie Boles, who works with Daniel’s cousins, said.
Funeral services for students Charlotte Bacon and Caroline Previdi and Principal Dawn Hochsprung are also scheduled for Wednesday.
