HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — A driver was rushed to the hospital after his truck crashed into a home and exploded into a fiery wreck.
Tad Thomas’ truck flew off a highway, drove through a chain link fence and struck two vehicles before it finally crashed into a home and caught fire, according to Hollywood Fire Rescue Chief Joel Medina.
Bystanders helped the driver, reported to be the only one in the vehicle, out of the car before fire crews arrived.
“I ran to the truck. I tried to open the door; the door wouldn’t open. I pulled him out the window and pulled him to the side, someone else came to help me pull him farther away from the truck before it exploded. I was panicking,” Evan Hanna told WSVN.
Chief Medina said the situation may have been much worse because when crews arrived, the car was already fully engulfed in flames.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash and what Thomas will be charged with.
Thomas is currently in surgery.
