NEW YORK — Six firefighters and one civilian were injured in a crash between a FDNY apparatus and garbage truck late Monday evening.
The Ladder 129 truck, carrying six firefighters, crashed into the private garbage truck, trapping three of the firefighters inside the wreckage, according to an FDNY spokesman.
Other firefighters had to extricate the trapped crew members.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, as the spokesman said it is undetermined if the firefighters were responding to a call at the time of the incident.
Reports say that the firefighters were wearing seat belts when the crash occurred.
Two of the firefighters were treated for their injuries at the scene while all others involved were taken to the hospital, according to the NY Daily News.
None of the injuries are serious.
