BETHESDA, Md. — Two volunteer EMTs were injured Sunday when they were struck by a car while assisting injured victims at a crash scene.
NBC Washington reported that a pickup truck on an interstate skidded over two lanes and onto the shoulder, striking the two EMTs. The truck also hit another pickup truck on the scene and the ambulance.
The EMTs were identified as Thomas Schryver, 26, and EMT Sydney Marshall, 19, with the Glen Echo Fire Department. They were both transported to a local hospital and one was listed with critical injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck was identified as Maximiliano Curcho, 34, who was also transported to a hospital.
The three people in the initial accident were transported to a hospital for treatment and it was not immediately known if they sustained additional injuries in the second crash.
The roadway was covered with snow when the crash occurred.
Police are investigating the incident. No charges have been filed at this time.
