KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A pedestrian was hit and killed by an AMR ambulance on Alcoa Highway on Tuesday morning, WVLT reported.
The ambulance was traveling north on the highway just after midnight when it struck the person who was wearing all black, according to a news release from the city of Alcoa.
A statement from AMR says that its crew rendered aid and that the incident is under review.
The pedestrian was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.
An investigation is ongoing.
