DETROIT — An ambulance service that hit and killed a bicyclist the night of May 12 is being investigated.
Investigators confirmed that the man killed was riding his bike in the street when an ambulance transporting a patient to a hospital when the crash occurred, reported ABC7 News.
The director of operations of the ambulance agency, DMCare Express, released a statement that read, “Our ambulance crew members, who save lives, are devastated over the collision, and the eventual death of the pedestrian.”
The director said the cyclist was wearing dark clothes and that the driver did not see him.
According to Detroit Medical Center, it does not operate DMCare Express, and that it is run by Community EMS.
DMCare Express is conducting its own internal investigation, as are Detroit Police.
