MARWAYNE, Alberta — A paramedic died Wednesday in a vehicle crash while on his way to work.
CBC reported that Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority paramedic Cameron Griffiths was traveling down the highway in icy conditions when his vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a truck.
“Cameron was killed ... on his way to work doing what he loves to do,” his wife, Jaimie, wrote on Facebook. “I am absolutely devastated and heartbroken.”
The Bonnyville Regional Fire Authority said Griffiths had “sheer joy” for his work and will be missed.
“We’re a family, no matter where you work or where you are geographically,” Alberta Paramedic Association executive director Marc Moebis said. “This is just one of those freak accidents, it could happen to anyone. Unfortunately, it happened to Cameron.”
The association activated their HELP fund to collect donations for Griffiths family.
