MORGAN COUNTY, Mo. — A 26-year-old woman was killed in a car accident on Friday while on the way to her bachelorette party.
Collette M. Moreno was died from her injuries at a local hospital. She was a passenger in a car her friend Ashley Theobald was driving, KCTV5.com reports.
Theobald said she tried to pass a semi-truck because the exhaust fumes were giving Moreno an asthmatic reaction. Neither of them saw a Dodge Ram that was cresting a hill, and both vehicles swerved, but in the same direction.
The Dodge, driven by 25-year-old Melvin Garber, struck the passenger side of the car the girls were in, sending it crashing to the left side of the road. He crashed to the right side of the road.
Theobald and Garber were treated but did not suffer serious injuries. All were wearing seatbelts.
Morena was set to marry her fiancé Jess Arcobasso next month. She lived with him and her 5-year-old son, Braden.
“He doesn’t quite understand everything just yet,” Arcobasso said.
A website has been set up to pay for Moreno’s funeral, family travel expenses, and her son’s future.
