3 dead in ND air ambulance crash

A paramedic, nurse and pilot were onboard the Metro Area Ambulance plane when it crashed on its way to assist in a patient transport

MORTON COUNTY, N.D. — Three people were killed Sunday night when an air ambulance crashed.

Bismarck Tribune reported that a Bismarck Air Medical paramedic and pilot, along with a nurse, were onboard the Metro Area Ambulance plane when it crashed while on its way to assist in a patient transport. There were no survivors.

CHI St. Alexius Health Bismarck President Kurt Schley and Bismarck Air Medical and Metro Area Ambulance Operations Chief Dan Schaefer said in a joint statement that the names of the people killed would not be released until the families are notified.

“It is a sad day here for both of our organizations. We are grieving for the family members of those who were on board,” the statement said. “The names of the individuals are not being released until families are notified. We are focused on supporting the families and associates from both organizations. We ask for your prayers and support at this very difficult time for all.”

The crash is currently under investigation. We will update you when more information becomes available.
