NEW YORK — A central New York EMS couple received a Times Square wedding during EMS Week on Tuesday morning.
American Medical Response Paramedic Meagan Herlihy and AMR EMT Kyle Short were married on “Good Morning America” after being selected from submissions of couples whose weddings were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The pair served 30 days on the front lines of the pandemic in New York City after the call for help was put out to EMS providers across the country.
The couple was married by a judge over video while standing on a balcony over the Hard Rock Cafe, as loved ones watched remotely, their images displayed on screens throughout the square.
The newlyweds were also surprised with a $10,000 donation to go toward Herlihy’s dream of attending medical school.
