BALTIMORE — The head of the University of Maryland’s Shock Trauma Center is speaking out against a bill that would delay the purchase of new Medevac helicopters that bring patients to the Baltimore hospital.
The Senate bill would bar state police from replacing helicopters in the Medevac fleet for two years so a commission can study emergency medical helicopter service in Maryland. The fleet has been the target of critical audits and one of its helicopters was involved in a September crash that killed four.
