PHOENIX — A medical helicopter arriving to pick up an injured motorcyclist in the Cave Creek area north of Phoenix has been damaged in a hard landing.
Maricopa County sheriff’s Deputy Doug Matteson says the AirEvac chopper with three crewmembers on board was landing at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday when its rotors kicked up a cloud of dust.
Matteson says the dust apparently obscured the pilot’s view of the ground and the aircraft hit hard and was unable to fly. None of the crew were hurt. The motorcycle driver was taken by an ambulance to a hospital.
