Aladtec Continues API Advancement As Users Benefit From Data Integration And Interoperability

Aladtec adds access to Event Calendar data through their API for third-party developers

HUDSON, WI - Aladtec, a leading developer of online employee scheduling and workforce management solutions today announced an API (application programming interface) enhancement for their cloud software products. Third-party developers can now leverage Aladtec’s API specification for their EMS Manager, FIRE Manager or Zanager systems to include event calendar data in addition to staff and schedule data. Known for modernizing the way public safety agencies manage and schedule their staff, Aladtec is proud to publicly offer their API free of charge to all paying customers.

Newton County Ambulance District (NCAD) in Neosho, Missouri, wanted their billing office to access their EMS Manager employee schedule without needing to create a login. Robert White, IT Administrator for NCAD, says “The API was easy to work with and it let us accomplish a specific need for our service.” Using the API, they were able to quickly create a simple desktop app (.NET) to allow the billing department access to current and future scheduling data.

Having just broken ground on their third station, Chief Byron Andrews from Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad (SVRS) in Sterling, Virginia needed a status board in every station to broadcast who, where and on what apparatus an employee is scheduled. “We used whiteboards which is an instrument of disaster; information isn’t up-to-date or it is inaccurate. Instead, using 42” TVs and by creating an electronic status board, we have a consistent message. With Aladtec’s API, we have scheduling data to complement our mechanical status, recent call information and river water levels in one easy-to-understand electronic status board we call ‘The ESB’.”

Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad even had the luxury to tap into their own resources for this project. A staffed EMT, Woody Null was commissioned to develop the electronic status board for SVRS. “The API was incredibly easy to use and the XML data flows nicely. It took me roughly 9 months, part-time, to develop the web app which allows us to access the ESB from home or on our handheld devices as easily as in the station.”

“As technology evolves, users inevitably imagine new and unique ways to access, combine, and benefit from their data. Many of our customers have very capable IT departments and in some cases even programmers on staff. So it’s natural for them to want programmatic data access,” says David Feyereisen, president of Aladtec. “It’s exciting to see the various tools customers are creating through our API, therefore, we’re committed to expanding our API capability and scope even further over the coming months.”
