CASTLE HAYNE, N.C. - VisionAIR®, a leading provider of public safety and criminal justice software, announces its sponsorship of National Preparedness Month 2005 in September. National Preparedness Month (NPM) is a nationwide effort to encourage Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses and schools. Throughout September, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the American Red Cross, and the National Preparedness Month Coalition Members, including VisionAIR, will highlight the importance of emergency preparedness and promote individual involvement through events and activities across the nation.
The goal of National Preparedness Month is to increase public awareness about the importance of preparing for emergencies and to motivate individuals to take action. Throughout the month, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the American Red Cross, and the National Preparedness Month Coalition Members will ask all Americans to take some simple steps to prepare for emergencies, including getting an emergency supply kit, making a family emergency plan, being informed about different threats and their appropriate responses, and getting involved in preparing their communities.
“VisionAIR is privileged to be a National Preparedness Month Coalition Members and promote the importance of emergency preparedness,” said Michael Kleppinger, VisionAIR’s Director of Marketing. Kleppinger continued, “Our mission has always been to give back to and make a difference in communities; that’s one of the reasons we value our public safety business, clients, and our employees who work so hard providing the best solutions possible for our dedicated public safety professionals. VisionAIR urges everyone to take action during National Preparedness Month and get prepared.”
One of the simplest things individuals can do to be better prepared is to have a family emergency plan. To develop one, ask yourself some important questions. “In the event of an emergency, do we have everyone’s contact numbers and an out of town contact?” “Is there a designated place for everyone to meet outside or the home and neighborhood?” “What is the evacuation location and plan of my child’s school?” Families can also create a kit that can be used in case of emergency. The kit should include items such as water, battery-powered radio, dust mask, first aid kit, and non-perishable food.
