Also provides $3 million in emergency cash grants over four months in response to Hurricane Katrina
Direct Relief International has furnished $26 million in emergency medical material aid and $3 million dollars in emergency cash support to assist people affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita over the past four months.
In a four-month update issued today, the California-based organization reported:
$4 million in contributions designated for the hurricane response;
Providing 77 tons of medicines and supplies worth over $26 million (wholesale) through 80 shipments to 64 facilities;
Medical material assistance that has included 1.3 million courses of treatment to care for hurricane victims;
Making emergency cash grants of $3 million to frontline health clinics and facilities.
