GREENSBURG, Kan. — An EMS agency in Kansas created a Star Wars video to demonstrate the proper way to do hands-only CPR.
The video, posted on the Kiowa County EMS Facebook page, was made at a high school pep rally and explains how to properly administer hands-only CPR using Darth Vader’s theme song, the Imperial March. At 104 beats per minute, the march is the perfect song to hum to keep a beat while administering CPR.
According to the American Heart Association, effective bystander CPR provided immediately after sudden cardiac arrest can double or triple a victim’s chance of survival. However, only 46 percent of cardiac arrest victims get CPR from a bystander.
The EMS agency made the video for American Heart Month and said their mission in making the video was to increase the chances of someone surviving sudden cardiac arrest.
