Calif. man reunited with medics who helped save his life

He choked on a sandwich, passed out and went into cardiac arrest

FRAZIER PARK, Calif. — A man was reunited with the paramedics who helped save his life in an honorary ceremony Monday.

KBAK reported that Monte and Muriel Moore went out to try a new sandwich shop in May when Monte began choking. Monte passed out and went into cardiac arrest, according to the report.

“I knew that he perhaps was dead, before they put him in the helicopter I kissed him, knowing it might be a final kiss,” said Muriel Moore.

EMTs were called and Monte was sent to the hospital, where he miraculously recovered. The Moore’s were at the ceremony on Monday to say “thank you” to the EMTs who saved Monte’s life, according to the report.

“We just cannot thank the paramedics and the fire and the helicopter and crew enough,” said Muriel Moore. “The people at San Joaquin (Community) Hospital were terrific, too. Such a great blessing, everyone working together and so compassionate and wonderful, we’re so thankful.”
