BANGOR, Maine — Tom Judge, executive director of LifeFlight of Maine, has been selected to serve a two-year appointment to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council.
As a member of the council, Judge will be involved in developing recommendations regarding the provision of emergency medical services throughout the nation.
“I’m proud to represent my colleagues in Maine and the air medical service across the country on this council,” said Judge, who led efforts to bring emergency helicopter service to Maine.
LifeFlight of Maine is a statewide medical helicopter system equipped with on-board intensive care capability. Two helicopters, one at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor and the other at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, fly to emergencies throughout Maine, including the offshore islands. Crews, including flight nurses and paramedics, also take patients to hospitals outside the state.
